Personalisation Information

The Government has changed the way social service departments have to offer services and support to people.

Personalisation means thinking about care and support services in an entirely different way, transforming the way that adult social care is delivered. This means starting with the person as an individual with strengths, preferences and aspirations and putting them at the centre of the process of identifying their needs and making choices about how and when they are supported to live their lives.

Following the completion of a self directed assessment (Supported Assessment Questionnaire), if a person is eligible under Fair Access to Care Services rules to support from social services, they will told the amount of council money that is likely to be available to meet their needs. This is a Personal Budget and the person is told the amount upfront, so they are able to design and plan the support they need. This means that people will be in control of their support, to live the life they choose.
