This section of the website will be updated on a regular basis.
It will provide information and news that will be of interest / useful to people with learning disabilities living in North Tyneside, their families and people / organisations that work to support them.
On 14 October 2010, the Department of Health published the ‘Six Lives Progress Report’. It says that progress has been made to improve the healthcare for people with learning disabilities, but a lot of work still needs to be done.
It looks at what the NHS and social care organisations have done to carry out the recommendations that were made by the Ombudsman services in their ‘Six Lives’ Report. For a copy of the full report click here. For an easy read summary report click here.
On 29 October 2010, the North Tyneside Learning Disability Partnership Board made a submission to the Strategic Health Authority (SHA) about the way in which local health services are meeting the needs of people with learning disabilities.
