Employment Support Team

Do you want to get a paid job?

If you have a disability and you live in North Tyneside, the Employment Support Team can help you to find a job.

There are lots of things we can do to help you, different people need different kinds of help - there is a list below of some of the things we can do:

  • Help to decide what kind of job would suit you best.
  • Finding out what kind of jobs are available in your local area
  • Help you to understand how working will affect your benefits
  • Support you to learn to travel independently
  • Find you a work experience placement to help you learn new skills
  • Provide you with Job Coaching support in the workplace
  • Help you to find jobs you want to apply for
  • Help you to fill in application forms and do interview training with you
  • Support you to fill in forms to let the benefit agency know when you start working
  • Help you to claim any new benefits you may be entitled to as a result of working
  • Support you to understand and reply to any letters you get from the benefit agency.
  • Support you to visit the job centre
  • Help you to find training courses that will help you in your job

Valuing Employment Now

‘Valuing Employment Now’ is an Employment Strategy and Delivery Plan that came out in June 2009. The plan aims to make it easier for people with learning disabilities to get a paid job. If you want to read more about ‘Valuing Employment Now’, see the link.
