North Tyneside Carer Forum

The Carer Forum is a group of family carers of people with learning disabilities, who meet to talk about the things that are important to them. The Forum meets 6 times a year, and is chaired by the Family Carer Representatives on the Partnership Board.

It is a Forum of the North Tyneside Learning Disability Partnership Board. This means it thinks about what Valuing People Now says should happen and helps the Partnership Board to understand the views of family carers. Three members of the Forum are elected onto the Partnership Board, as representatives. Information and agreed actions from the work of the Carer Forum is shared directly through a regular slot in Partnership Board meetings and through relevant sub groups.

There is also a National Valuing Families Forum for family carers of people with learning disabilities. It is their job of telling the Government how Valuing People Now is working for family carers of people with learning disabilities across the country.
